Jeep drives over top of motorcyclist who crashes on U.S. 35 East in Xenia Twp.

UPDATE @ 10:38 p.m.: A Jeep drove over top of -- but did not hit -- a motorcyclist who had crashed and fallen off his bike on U.S. 35 East in Xenia Twp., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The biker has been taken to a hospital suffering from a serious case of road rash and a concussion, a trooper tells us, noting the biker was not wearing a helmet and was suspected of being intoxicated.

According to the preliminary investigation, three motorcyclists were traveling east on U.S. 35 at Trebein at high speed.

The driver of the Jeep was following the three bikes but lost sight of them until the Jeep drove over the top of the biker, who was in the roadway on U.S. 35 at Upper Bellbrook Road.

The other two bikers did not stop, the trooper said.

INITIAL REPORT

Law enforcement and a medic unit have been dispatched to a motorcycle accident on U.S. 35 East in Xenia, near the exit to Lower Bellbrook Road, where early reports indicated the motorcyclist may have been hit or run over by several vehicles.

The accident was reported just before 10 p.m. and we're hearing the motorcyclist may not have been wearing a helmet. We're also hearing the rider may have been with another motorcyclist when the accident occurred.

According to initial reports to police dispatchers, the motorcyclist was in the road and reportedly unresponsive.

Traffic on U.S. 35 East is severely slowed or stopped and state patrol troopers are on scene.
