2 detained for questioning in Warren County shooting near Waynesville

UPDATE @ 12:15 a.m. (Oct. 10): At least two people have been detained for questioning in the Warren County shooting at a residence near Waynesville, sheriff's Lt. John Faine said.

Authorities are working to determine whether the people detained are suspects or witnesses, he said.

A sheriff's crime scene unit has been dispatched and will be on scene well into the overnight hours.

INITIAL REPORT (Oct. 9)

At least one person has been shot several times in an incident tonight just south of Waynesville.

We're hearing the victim has at least five gunshot wounds to one of his legs, but reportedly is alert and conscious. The victim has been taken to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown.

Police, Warren County sheriff's deputies and medic units were dispatched just after 10 p.m. on a report of a shooting in the area of U.S. 42 and North Waynesville Road.

A fire crew is blocking North Waynesville Road at U.S. 42.

We're hearing from Clearcreek firefighters that police and deputies are clearing the area.
