A lightning strike set off alarms and knocked out one of the HVAC units this morning at Archers Tavern in Kettering, but its owner told this news outlet this morning the restaurant will be open and operating with normal hours today.
Fire crews were requested at the restaurant, located at 2030 East Dorothy Lane, shortly after 7:40 a.m. today, July 13, on a report of a lightning strike.
Two employees in the restaurant at the time heard “the loudest sound they’ve ever heard” but were not injured, according to Dan Apolito, Archers’ co-founder.

There was no damage to the building or its equipment, Apolito said, and the restaurant was on track to open at its normal 11 a.m. opening time, Apolito said.
