MIAMI VALLEY — The first round of snow fell across the Miami Valley on Friday ahead of a significant winter storm expected late this weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch that goes into effect starting Sunday morning for Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby, and Warren counties in Ohio through Monday evening. It also includes Randolph, Union, and Wayne counties in Indiana.

TIMING:
Friday’s now ended after Daybreak, but there will be some frozen and slippery spots.
Our Storm Center 7 team of meteorologists continues to track a possible winter storm this weekend.
Marando says the likely timeline is late Sunday through Monday.
“Snow should be the main precipitation type locally but we are watching for the potential of sleet and freezing rain to mix south of I-70,” he said.
Areas expected to see all snow could get at least six inches of snow.
IMPACTS:
Heavy mixed precipitation is possible across the region, according to the National Weather Service.
Total snow accumulations between five to 10 inches of snow are possible.
Travel could be difficult.
The hazardous conditions could impact the roads on Friday. this includes the bridges and overpasses. They will likely become slick and hazardous.
