Local community support groups recipients of grants from City of Dayton

DAYTON — Several local organizations are receiving grants totaling $1.5 million from the City of Dayton.

The City Commission approved it Wednesday as latest the round of, “investments of Dayton Recovery Plan funds,” a City spokesperson said.

This includes:

  • YWCA Dayton- $500,000 for completion of the renovation of its women’s shelter and services center in downtown Dayton.
  • Cassano Health Center- $250,000 for new exam room furniture in 28 patient exam rooms, plus point of care testing equipment.
  • Greater Edgemont Community Coaltion- $500,000 to acquire land, construct facilities and secure components of a community aquaponics garden and outdoor community center at 919 Miami Chapel Rd. in the Edgemont neighborhood. Five Rivers Health Center will operate the project in cooperation with the Greater Edgemont Community Coalition.
  • Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley- $250,000 to support renovation of the Eckerle Building, 922 W. Riverview Ave., including an addition to the food pantry.
