Local Marine killed in pedestrian crash

Camp Pendleton, California — Mark Elliott O`Neal Huff,  a Wilmington, Ohio native, passed away Friday October 20, 2017. Huff, 21, died after being struck by a car near SR 78 in California according to the California Highway Patrol.

Huff was a 2015 graduate of Wilmington High School and was active in football, wrestling, track and theatre according to his obituary.

Huff was also member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Wilmington. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in October 2015, attended boot camp at Parris Island and graduated in April 2016.

Services with full Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday October 28 at Wilmington High School.

Special activities to honor Huff are planned for Friday’s football game between Clinton Massie and host Wilmington. A moment of silence will be held at the game according to a Wilmington City Schools official.

Game staff will also be selling bracelets and raffle tickets with proceeds going to the Huff family and a scholarship in Mark’s name.
