As reported on News Center 6:00, the Good Neighbor House, a non-profit organization, works to help people in need but now needs some help of its own.

The organization is located on First Street, just two blocks east of the Day-Air Ballpark.
But when it comes to having enough volunteers, the non-profit is striking out.
“We’ve seen a lot of decrease due to people that normally volunteer for us because of age, and retired people, and they’re starting to get to the point where they can’t anymore,” Pantry manager Shellie Rice said.
Rice said the need for volunteers has grown almost 50%.
“We see anywhere from 100 to 120 families and sometimes more than that and we are also serving anywhere from, I would say, 80 to 120 homeless folks a day,” Rice said.
Volunteers were busy on Monday as cars lined up to get three to five days’ worth of groceries.
“Usually, our line is wrapped around First Street, so we have a steady flow of people that are in need, and we want to see them serviced,” Rice said.
Meanwhile, other volunteers worked inside to carry in and sort boxes of food.
“We don’t ever want to see anyone go without. We’ve never had to turn anyone down yet,” Rice said.
Anyone interested in volunteering at Good Neighbor House should call (937) 224-3003 and leave a message.
