Dayton Public Schools to have remote learning day due to extreme cold

DAYTON — Dayton Public Schools will be having a remote learning day tomorrow.

Due to the extreme cold temperatures forecasted for the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 15, the district will be remote, according to a Facebook post from the district.

“We understand that too many calamity days can negatively impact student learning. Therefore, we are opting to hold a remote learning day to allow students to remain at home and continue learning through at-home work,” the post read.

All DPS employees are expected to report from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. unless otherwise specified by their supervisor, the post said.

DPS buildings will be open and families can contact the main office if needed.

The remote learning day comes after the district closed for three days last week due to heavy snowfall.
