Astronaut talks to local students about life on the ISS

BELLEFONTAINE — Bellefontaine City Schools got the chance to speak with astronauts aboard the International Space Station Thursday.

Students were able to ask astronauts questions about their life in orbit, according to a release.

Contact with the astronauts was set to last about ten minutes.

Students talked to Kayla Barron Thursday at 1:13 p.m.

According to Bellefontaine High School Amateur Radio Club’s website, Barron was part of the NASA SpaceX Crew-3 mission to the International Space Station that happened last November. She has a master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Bellefontaine is one of the nine groups in the United States that talk to ISS astronauts using amateur radio through the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) program.
