On Friday, the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton gifted the family with three $500 gift cards to Kroger and Walmart to help the family being to replace what was lost in the blaze. The family spent part of Friday morning at the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton selecting gifts and items, something the family told News Center 7′s Candace Price will make a significant difference for them.
The organization also gifted the family an Xbox gaming system.
“I’m the the type that really doesn’t ask for much so for the community to help out ... the love was wonderful,” Champaigne Scott said.
For the Tara Marlow, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Dayton, the decision to find ways to help the Scott family was easy, given a similar event happened in her family a few years ago.
“A few years ago my daughter…experienced a fire and lost everything except for the clothes on her back. I want to ensure that we are also a non profit organization that is about giving back to the community,” Marlow said.
Champaigne and Charles Scott said they were woken-up by their kids after the fire broke out Monday morning. Charles said he tried to put the fire out himself but it had already gotten out of control.

The family of seven was able to safely evacuate the house without any injuries, but the house was gutted by the blaze.
The family is also accepting donations through a GoFundMe page, which has already exceeded their goal. Since News Center 7 covered the Scott family story, donations to their page have surpassed their $3,000 goal.
