DAYTON — A man wanted for allegedly leading police on a pursuit after a carjacking was arrested by the U.S. Marshal Service last week in Dayton.

The investigation stemmed from a reported armed robbery at a home in the 1400 block of Canfield Avenue in Dayton July 14. The victim told investigators a man pulled a gun on them and demanded the keys to their vehicle, U.S. Marshals said in a media release.

The man, later identified as Darrell L. Boyd Jr., 20, entered the car and led officers on a multi-jurisdictional pursuit, Marshals said. The pursuit ended in a crash in the 900 block of Upland Avenue in Dayton and Boyd was able to elude officers after fleeing from the scene on foot, according to investigators.

Last Thursday, the U.S. Marshal’s Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team located and apprehended Boyd at an apartment on Daytona Parkway in Dayton. Boyd was taken into custody without incident and was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
Boyd remains in the jail on charges of aggravated robbery and theft, online records indicate.
