Man accused of killing girlfriend on New Year’s Day dies after self-inflicted shooting

SPRINGFIELD — A man accused of killing his girlfriend and then leading police on a chase has died.

Stanley Casimir died on Jan. 3 at Miami Valley Hospital, according to a Springfield police spokesperson.

News Center 7 previously reported on New Year’s Day dispatchers received a chilling call from Casimir.

“Yeah, um, I just killed my girlfriend,” he said.

Police rushed to the apartment on Villa Road where Casimir said the shooting happened.

“He took off. They attempted a stop. There was a brief pursuit,” Sgt. James Byron with Springfield police said.

Byron said the chase went south on US-68 until it ended at State Route 41.

Casimir crashed there after police said he shot himself while he was driving.

Police found Rodline Anacreon dead outside the apartment.

Casimir and Anacreon had twin boys together.
