Man arrested after early morning pursuit in Sidney

SIDNEY — An Anna man is facing charges after leading officers on a pursuit Saturday morning in Sidney.

According to the Sidney Police Department, officers initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle on SR 47 near I-75 just after 6:30 a.m. Police said the driver, Robert Tillman, 24, of Anna, had a confirmed felony warrant out for his arrest in Shelby County.

Police said the Tillman stopped his vehicle on the northbound entrance ramp to I-75, but drove off when an officer exited his cruiser. Tillman attempted to drive away from police by driving at speeds estimated to exceed 100 mph.

According to police, Tillman unsuccessfully attempted to use the turn around on I-75 that is meant for emergency vehicles near the 101 mile marker. As officers got closer to the his vehicle, Tillman attempted to drive off and caused minor damage to a police cruiser.

Tillman got out of the vehicle and attempted to run from officers. He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

Police said he was charges with felony fleeing and eluding in addition to his original felony warrant.
