Bond set for man accused of high-speed chase in stolen minivan in Miami, Shelby counties

TROY — Bond was set at $10,000 for man a Dayton man accused of leading state troopers on a chase reaching 110 miles per hour on Interstate 75 in a minivan stolen from an area car dealership.

Dyllen Redding, 28, was booked on OVI, according to the Miami Valley Jails booking site, and made his first appearance in the case Friday morning.

The pursuit started around 3 a.m. Friday on I-75 North near the state Route 55 exit to Troy when state troopers attempted to stop a Dodge minivan that was swerving outside marked lanes, state troopers from the Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a media release.

The driver, later identified by investigators Redding, didn’t stop for the traffic stop and led troopers on a pursuit where speeds reached over 100 mph.

State troopers continued north on I-75 into Shelby County before a tire deflation device was used, puncturing one of the minivan’s tires. After the punctured tire, Redding exited I-75 at Fair Road and attempted to run from state troopers.

Redding was captured shortly after abandoning the car, state troopers said.

He was facing preliminary charges of fleeing and eluding, receiving stolen property, OVI and other traffic related charges, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

During the investigation, state troopers found the minivan was reported stolen from the Key Chrysler dealership in Xenia where it was being serviced.
