SHELBY COUNTY — A 41-year-old Shelby County man has died after being severely injured by a chainsaw while chopping wood, according to the sheriff’s office.
Craig Freisthler was alone cutting wood with the chainsaw Sunday in the woods north of his home on state Route 119 when he was injured.
Based off the investigation, it appears that the chainsaw jumped, injuring his neck and face, according to the sheriff’s office.
He used an ATV to get himself home and get help.
Freisthler was treated at the scene, then taken to Wilson Health. A mobile intensive care unit then transported him to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
