Victim ID’d after deadly shooting in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — A victim of a deadly overnight shooting in Springfield has been identified.

James Gilliam was found laying in the street of the 200 block of South Yellow Springs Street early Monday morning after being shot, according to Springfield Police.

Police went to the area after a neighbor called saying she heard four or five gunshots outside her house around 12:37 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that Gilliam was unresponsive and had multiple gunshot wounds.

An incident report from Springfield Police says Gilliam was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

Springfield Officers are investigating this shooting.
