Not guilty: Jury clears New Lebanon man of child sex crimes

TROTWOOD — UPDATE @ 11:21 a.m. (Nov. 21):

A New Lebanon man has been cleared of child sex crimes in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.

A jury found Otis Marshall, 54, not guilty of all charges, according to a court official.

Marshall was initially charged with rape, kidnapping and disseminating matter harmful to children.

His trial started Monday, Nov. 18, and jury began deliberations Wednesday.

The jury returned the not guilty verdict Thursday morning.

UPDATE @ 9:09 a.m. (April 19):

A man accused of child sex crimes made his first appearance in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court Thursday.

A judge sent Otis Marshall’s bond for $150,000, according to court records.

Marshall is facing rape under 13, kidnapping and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles charges.

INITIAL REPORT:

A 53-year-old New Lebanon man who was featured on New Center 7’s Miami Valley’s Most Wanted is scheduled to be arraigned in court today on charges including rape of a child younger than 13, records show.

Otis Marshall was arrested over a week ago and indicted on two counts of rape under 13, kidnapping and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

A warrant for Marshall’s arrest was issued March 15 for the incident alleged to have happened Jan. 4 in Trotwood, according to online Montgomery County court documents.

Police say the victim is known to the suspect, and that the case is still under investigation.

Marshall, who made two recent appearances on News Center 7 anchor Cheryl McHenry’s Most Wanted segment, is currently in Montgomery County Jail.
