Man found bleeding, lying on ground after Springfield crash

SPRINGFIELD — A man was found lying on the ground and bleeding following a single-vehicle crash in Springfield Sunday overnight.

Springfield Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Mitchell Boulevard at around 1 a.m. on reports of a crash, the city’s dispatch said.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying on the ground next his vehicle and bleeding from his head.

Police discovered that the driver crashed his car into a parked trailer while possibly driving under the influence.

The man was taken into custody and transported to an unspecified location for OVI-related testing.

No passengers were riding in the crashed vehicle. There were no other reported injuries.

The Springfield Police Department led the investigation into the crash.
