MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — Multiple domestic violence responses to the home on Fox Glove Way, where a man was shot and killed in a shootout with police, date back to at least 2018, according to newly obtained Miami Twp. police records.
Frederick Thomas, 41, died in the shooting Sept. 5 in the 8900 block of Fox Glove Way.

Thomas’ wife called 911 to report a domestic violence incident at the house around 9:09 p.m.
“Get away from me. Leave me alone.” The wife said in the 911 call, obtained by News Center 7 through a public records request. “Get off of my baby.”
As officers were responding to the domestic violence call around 9:11 p.m., they received another 911 call from a neighbor reporting hearing two or three gunshots coming from the direction of the home where the domestic violence call came from, according to police.
The gunshots information was relayed to the officers responding to the scene, Stiegelmeyer said.
Eight minutes after the initial dispatch, police could hear Frederick Thomas, 41, in the garage of the residence making threatening statements such as “I am ready for a shootout,” Stiegelmeyer said.
Police were concerned that the woman who called 911 initially and possibly an additional juvenile might have already been harmed or were in harms way, so officers approached the house and knocked on the door at 9:20 p.m.
As officers approached the door, body camera video showed Thomas open the door and say “I’m going to blow your brains out.”

That’s when Stiegelmeyer said Thomas began firing a handgun at officers and officers returned fire.
Police ended up finding Thomas dead inside in the hallway near the door several hours later following a SWAT situation.
Thomas’ wife called police to report issues with her husband multiple times dating back to at least July 2018.
Officers responded to the same house when Thomas and his wife got into an argument.
Police said Thomas was “confrontational, argumentative, and belligerent…from the onset.” Officers said Thomas “placed his hand in his pants pocket at one point and when asked to remove it for my safety, he smirked, challenged me, and asked if I was going to shoot him,” police wrote in the July 2018 report.
Thomas ended up getting Tased when police said he resisted when they tried to detain him, according to the report.
A few months later, in November 2018, Thomas’ wife called police after the couple got into an argument. Police came and separated the two for the night.
In February 2020, police responded to the house again after the couple got into an argument over athletic ability in the family, according to an incident report.
Police again separated the couple for the night.
When police responded to the Fox Glove address Sunday and ended up in the shootout with Thomas, it was the second time officers had been to the home that night.
Stiegelmeyer said they had responded to a similar call earlier in the night and police had taken Thomas to his sister’s home in another portion of the township. The chief said officers were unaware that the sister had brought Thomas back to the house.
