Just a few days before Christmas, a man left The Glass Hat on Linden Avenue after reportedly waving a gun at someone in the bar and demanding money. Police were told he was still sitting in his truck outside.

When police pulled up in front of and behind the truck, the driver, later identified as 47-year-old Stephen Wilson II, sped off and rammed one of the cruisers in the process.

“We just got rammed by a vehicle,” an officer can be heard saying in the dash camera video.

The video, shown on News Center 7 at 5:00, showed two Dayton police crews at the scene take off after him.

Police decided to try to use a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver on the truck to avoid any more danger to other drivers.

After the PIT maneuver, the truck spins around and up against the second cruiser. Then, officers converge on Wilson.

After taking Wilson into custody, officers found a gun in his truck but he didn’t seem to think he did anything wrong.

“Can we get somebody to go back to the bar and talk to the female victim please?” an officer asked in body camera video of the arrest.

“What victim,” Wilson responded.

A Dayton police report said that Wilson flashed a gun at a female employee and told her she “was lucky she had pretty eyes.”

Wilson was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of a half-dozen gun, robbery, and chase-related charges. He posted bond and is no longer in custody.

His case has gone before a Montgomery County grand jury. If or when they approve charges, he will again resume his trip through the criminal justice system.
