Man preventing 2 people from leaving home leads to large police presence in Dayton neighborhood

DAYTON — A large police presence in a Dayton neighborhood ended with an arrest Thursday night.

Dayton police were called to the 600 block of Crestmore Avenue on a weapons complaint around 6:10 p.m.

Comments made during a call with dispatchers stated that a suspect, only identified by police as a 48-year-old man, was armed and preventing two people from leaving the home.

“The two victims were able to safely get out of the house and officers began to give commands for the suspect to exit the home,” Lt. Randy Beane confirmed.

The suspect eventually exited the home after around two hours and was taken into custody.

Beane said the suspect was transported to the Montgomery County Jail on numerous felony charges.

The incident is under investigation by detectives from the Family Justice Center.
