Initial reports indicated that a 911 caller said the man fell upside down in about five feet of gravel.

Zimmerman worked at Enon Sand and Gravel and was with other workers during the incident.

Workers at the scene reported that the conveyor belts on their hopper were being faulty, but they didn’t know exactly how he fell into the pit.
