CENTERVILLE — A man has been sentenced to more than five years in prison in connection to a crash that killed a Centerville woman in 2021.
On June 7 2021 Bryce Axline was intoxicated and driving when he crashed his car into an embankment at Great Smoky Mountains National Park, according to a release.
His two female passengers, both 19 years old, were seriously injured.
One woman suffered life-altering injuries and another woman, Elizabeth Marie Parker a 2020 graduate of Centerville High School, died from her injuries.

Axline was treated for minor injuries and when interviewed by the National Park Service admitted to driving the car.
Based on an analysis of the car’s airbag module, the NPS determined that the car was traveling at 90 miles per hour just seconds before the accident occurred, a release states.
Axline was sentenced to 65 months in federal prison for vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
He was also ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution and upon his release from prison be on federal supervised release for three years.
