Man seriously injured in Dayton shooting

DAYTON — A man is in the hospital after being shot in the chest in East Dayton Saturday.

Police and medics were called out to the 100 block of Dover Street on reports of a shooting around 2:15 p.m.

News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott was on scene as officers were investigating. The area was blocked off with caution and police were coming and out of a home on Dover Street.

Medics took the man who was shot in the chest to the hospital where is in critical condition, officers told News Center 7 at the scene.

When police arrived, they were asking people to show them any surveillance video they might have and asking them if the saw or heard anything since the shooter has not been arrested yet.

Dayton Police Sergeant Eric Brown tells News Center 7 the public is not in danger.

“We don’t have any reason to believe the immediate public’s in any danger,” he told McDermott. “And we would ask that anybody that has any information or possibly any camera footage in this location to give us a call.”

Neighbors tell News Center 7 they hear gunshots in this area all the time but the victim made it to the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
