Deputies and police caught up to the vehicle after it exited in the area of I-75 ramp to Webster Street and state Route 4, investigators said.

The man abandoned the car at the Webster Street ramp and ran south until he reached the Mad River. Shortly after making it into the river deputies and police were able to take him into custody, officials said.

The car the man was driving might have been stolen but deputies are still investigating that claim.
