HARRISON TOWNSHIP — A man who beat a woman with a baseball bat, seriously injuring her, has learned his punishment.

Mitchell Smith, 64, was sentenced to three to four and a half years in prison, according to Montgomery County Common Pleas Court documents.
Smith pleaded guilty in November to two counts of felonious assault.

As News Center 7 previously reported, on Oct. 2, 2023 deputies were called to the 6900 block of North Main Street on reports of an assault.
Deputies found a victim in a nearby business covered in blood.
The victim, identified as a 38-year-old woman, said that Smith hit her with a wooden baseball bat multiple times on her head and other parts of her body.
Smith was on parole after serving time for a rape conviction in Butler County, according to Butler County court documents.
