1 in custody identified after pursuit, manhunt ends in New Carlisle

UPDATE @ 1 p.m.:

Clark County Sheriff Deb Burchett said Friday morning’s pursuit and manhunt began at Crystal Lakes when deputies spotted a stolen vehicle out of Wilmington.

She said her deputies spotted a man, identified as Michael Downey, 45, of Dayton, get into the vehicle and try to drive away.

Deputies chased the suspect to New Carlisle where they found him hiding in a shed, she said.

“They found him and were able to talk him out of there,” Burchett said.

Downey had state warrants for charges of trafficking in drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, obstructing and falsification, according to the sheriff.

Downey will be booked into the Clark County Jail on a charge of fleeing and alluding police among others, Burchett said.

UPDATE @ 12:10 p.m.: 

A man has been taken into custody after a pursuit and manhunt in New Carlisle, deputies confirmed.

The man was located and captured at a house on South Church Street.

Additional details were not immediately available.

FIRST REPORT

A manhunt is reportedly underway in New Carlisle after a high-speed pursuit ended in the area of state Route 235 and South Church Street Friday.

A deputy reported a pursuit reached at least 90 mph on state Route 235 around 11:15 a.m.

Deputies reported the pursuit ended with the suspect running towards the 300 block of South Church Street in New Carlisle.

Reports indicate several deputies are in the area and are now searching for the suspect.
