CANTON — The Marion Local Flyers football team won their second state championship in the last three years Saturday.
The Flyers beat Newark Catholic 42-7 to claim the Division 7 State title.

The Flyers never trailed in the championship game at Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.
The win marked Marion Local’s 12th state championship since 2000.

According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Flyers’ 12 state titles are the most in OHSAA football history.
