DAYTON — Dayton City Commissioners has voted to repeal the ordinance that requires face coverings in the city’s public spaces for vaccinated individuals. As previously reported, the repeal will go into effect immediately on Wednesday May, 19.
“The ordinance was adopted by the Commission on July 1, 2020, for purposes of reducing the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” the city said.

The commission voted on the repeal as an emergency measure with two readings during Wednesday night’s meeting at 6 p.m.
The repeal is in alignment with the guidance released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on May 13.
The city said businesses and organizations operating in the city may continue to require employees , customers and visitors to use face coverings inside buildings or in other situations as needed.
City officials said they plan to continue requiring employees and visitors to use face coverings in city facilities until further notice.
The City Commission also announced that their first in-person meeting in over a year will be June 9.
