Anna man dies from injuries in Shelby County motorcycle crash

SHELBY COUNTY — UPDATE @ 3:55 p.m. (July 25): 

An Anna man seriously injured in a motorcycle crash on County Road 25A in Shelby County Tuesday morning has died, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Christopher Knouff, 50, died Wednesday night at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, according to the coroner.

His cause of death has not been officially determined, officials said.

FIRST REPORT (July 23):

A motorcyclist who authorities say was not wearing helmet when a crash occurred on County Road 25A early Tuesday was transported by CareFlight to a local hospital.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and emergency crews were dispatched to South County Road 25A and the I-75 overpass on the wreck involving the motorcycle and a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu around 5:45 a.m.

Sheriff’s deputies say the driver of the car, identified as Carlie Watkins, 19, of Minster, was trying to enter the interstate from County Road 25A when it turned into the motorcycle’s path. The motorcyclist, identified as Christopher Knouff, 50, of Anna, was ejected and suffered serious injuries.

Knouff was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries, deputies said.

The driver of the car was not injured.

County Road 25A was blocked in both directions while the crash investigation was underway by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. It has since reopened.
