SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @ 4 a.m.: One person was transported to a local hospital via CareFlight after a motorcycle crash occurred in Springfield early Wednesday.

According to Springfield police, crews were called to the 1600 block of Miracle Mile when two riders were thrown from a single motorcycle after hitting a deer.

Initial reports indicate the driver reportedly suffered major head trauma and was unconscious when emergency personnel arrived on scene.

The driver was taken by CareFlight in unknown condition, while the passenger refused medical treatment at the scene.

The identities of the riders were not released.
