Miami County Sheriff’s Office awarded grant for 16th consecutive year

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded the Traffic Safety Enforcement Grant for the sixteenth year in a row.

The Sheriff’s Office was awarded $69,748. This money will be used to pay overtime wages for traffic enforcement and some fuel costs throughout 2021.

According to a release issued by the Sheriff’s Office, a total of 1100 man-hours will be spent on extra traffic enforcement throughout next year.

The release also mentioned the majority of the overtime hours spent working will be during the holidays due to the high volume of vehicular travels.

They say, “By having extra traffic patrols it will also enable deputies to be available to offer roadside assistance to motorists and deter crime by the increased presence of additional deputies on Miami County roadways.”
