Miami County Sheriff’s Office, OSHA investigating contract worker’s death

MIAMI COUNTY — The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a contract worker’s death in Monroe Township.

A chief deputy told News Center 7 crews were drilling holes at a new AES Ohio site on June 21st.

The deputy said a worker either fell in a hole with muddy water, or equipment knocked him in head first.

A report from the sheriff’s office lists the victim as Bradley Fritz, from Winchester, Indiana.

Crews had to use a rope tied to his legs and a piece of equipment to pull him out.

The sheriff’s office said OSHA is also investigating.

A spokesperson for AES Ohio provided the following statement:

“On Tuesday, June 21, a contractor working for AES Ohio sustained a serious injury that later resulted in a fatality. AES Ohio extends its deepest sympathy to the individual’s family and is providing support resources as they grieve the loss of their loved one.”
