TROY — Hazmat teams from Miami and Shelby Counties have been called to a reported diesel spill in Troy Tuesday night.

Firefighters with the Troy Fire Department reported “a significant diesel spill in the storm drain system” around 6:19 p.m. near Treasure Island, according to initial scanner traffic
Miami County hazmat teams are on the scene, as well as the Shelby County hazmat team, Bill Frye, Hazmat Coordinator for the Miami County Emergency Management Agency told News Center 7.
“We received a call through the Troy Fire Department for a smell of diesel in the river,” he said. “By tracing back the flow of the water, we have tracked it back to I-75 and State Route 41.”
Frye said members of both the Miami and Shelby County hazmat teams are checking the manhole covers along State Route 41. Both the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ohio EPA have also been notified.
Troy Police also told News Center 7 Tuesday night are no injuries have been reported and no evacuations have been ordered at this time.
No road closures have also been made at this time in Troy.
