4 Miami Valley communities receive funds for housing initiative

Several Ohio communities have received funding for a housing initiative, the Ohio Development Services Agency announced Thursday.

More than $21 million was awarded to 31 communities to rehabilitate, repair and construct affordable housing for low-income Ohioans as well as home-ownership and rental assistance.

The following Miami Valley communities received grants:

  • Champaign County will partner with Urbana to receive a $700,000 grant to rehabilitate nine owner-occupied homes, repair 16 owner-occupied homes, partner with Habitat for Humanity to build two homes and include a fair housing component.
  • Sidney will partner with Shelby County to receive a $750,000 grant to rehabilitate seven owner-occupied homes, repair 16 owner-occupied homes, provide rental assistance to 40 households and include a fair housing component.
  • Darke County will partner with Greenville to receive a $700,000 grant to rehabilitate 10 owner-occupied homes, repair 13 owner-occupied homes and include a fair housing component.
  • Greene County will partner with Xenia to receive a $400,000 grant to rehabilitate eight owner-occupied homes, repair 13 owner-occupied homes and include a fair housing component.
