DAYTON — Around 2 a.m. On New Year’s Day, Miami Valley Hospital welcomed its first baby of the year — Felicity Rose.

Felicity was born to Leila Shaw and Michael Pearson around 2:06 a.m.
She weighed 7lbs 13 ounces.

Shaw said she wasn’t expecting to have a New Year’s baby — Felicity’s due date was Dec. 30.
“She was very stubborn and came when she was ready,” she said.
By Felicity’s side was her big sister 3-year-old Kimberly.
“She was very excited to be a big sister,” Shaw said.
Ana Carrion, Shaw’s postpartum nurse said Shaw and Felicity are doing wonderful.
“She has a beautiful family, the baby is nice and healthy, and everything is going well,” Carrion said.
News Center 7 has contacted other area hospital networks to see if they have any New Year’s babies.
