MIAMI VALLEY — The Miami Valley should expect gas prices to rise due to conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
News Center 7′s Gabrielle Enright spoke with Patrick De Haan, Petroleum Analyst for GasBuddy.com, to get insight on how tension between Russia and Ukraine will impact supply and demand in the Miami Valley.

“Price increases will probably be more frequent starting in March. That’s when refineries start doing maintenance, we transition to summer gasoline and layering that with instability overseas, layering on supply issues, it’s a recipe for higher prices this spring so get ready to dig deeper into your wallet to fill your tank,” De Haan said.
De Haan told Enright that right now in the Dayton area, consumers are paying about $3.30 a gallon, and prices could go up to $4 by spring or sooner. However, this does not mean people can’t save money.
To save money consumers should shop around, De Haan said. Driving a few miles could help save as much as $100 to $200 dollars. People can also sign up for discounts and rewards at grocery or convenience stores. Convenience stores in Ohio are known to participate in “gas wars,” luckily putting Ohio gas prices lower than the national average.
