COLUMBUS — Ohio’s minimum wage will increase by 50 cents in January to $9.30 per hour for non-tipped employees, the state department of commerce announced Thursday.
Tipped employees will see an increase of 25 cents per hour to $4.65.

Voters in Ohio passed a Constitutional Amendment in 2006 that requires the state to increase the minimum wage on Jan. 1 each year by the rate of inflation.
The Consumer Price Index for urban wage earners and clerical workers is what the state uses to determine the minimum wage. That figure increased by 5.8 percent from Sept. 1, 2020 to Aug. 31, 2021.
The Ohio minimum wage applies to employees of businesses with more than $319,000 in gross annual receipts per year.
