MLK Day events planned across the Miami Valley

The Miami Valley has many events planned for today to acknowledge and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s work and leadership during the Civil Rights Movement.

Below are the local events planned for Monday:

Dayton Public Schools MLK Day of Service:

Dayton Public Schools are set to hold a drive-through donation event tomorrow for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. The event will be held today at the David H. Ponitz CTC on Washington Street.

Time: 8:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M.

Place: 741 W Washington St, Dayton

NAACP MLK Celebration:

The Dayton Unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will host its second annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Virtual Commemoration Day Celebration. The theme for this online event is titled, “Shining Lights on Voting Rights.”

Date: Monday, Jan. 17

Time: 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.

Place: Online on their Facebook page.

Huber Heights Unity Walk

The city of Huber Heights will be hosting the third annual MLK Unity Walk this morning. The event will start at North Heights Plaza on Old Troy Pike and end at New Season Ministry on Shull Road.

Time: 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.

Place: 5700 Shull Road, Huber Heights

MLK Day march in Dayton

A march is set to begin at begins at 9:30 at the Charles Drew Health Center in Dayton. They will walk across the W. Third St. bridge to Sinclair College where a short program will be held outside.
