Montgomery County Coroner’s Office awarded with $160K grant from U.S Department of Justice

MONTGOMERY COUNTY — Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown announced that the U.S Department of Justice has awarded a $163,227 grant to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office

The grant was part of the “Strengthening the Medical Examiner-Coroner System” program, according to a release from Brown’s office.

The funds will allow the MCCO to hire a fellow to help perform forensic postmortem examinations, according to the release.

“As the forensic medicine field continues to experience shortages, we need to ensure that funding is provided to support the hard-working individuals in the medical examiner workforce,” said Brown.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office provides autopsy services to 36 counties in Ohio and one county in Indiana.
