Montgomery County drug task force announces major narcotics seizure

DAYTON — Investigators with the Montgomery County Bulk Smuggling Task Force seized 2,738 grams of heroin, 294 grams of fentanyl and a small amount of cocaine from an address on Wyoming Street in Dayton on Thursday.

Alejandro Hernandez of Dayton was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute 400 or more grams of heroin.

Authorities arrested Hernandez after gaining evidence that he was allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking.

“These kind of seizures will have a direct and immediate impact on the quality of life and public safety in the community,” Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck said. “We recognize continuing collaboration between federal, state and local partnerships are necessary to have a significant impact on the criminal organizations in Montgomery County.”

The Miami Valley Bulk Smuggling Task Force is made up of officers from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Miami Twp. Police Department, Butler Twp. Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Montgomery County RANGE Task Force, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
