MORAINE — People living in Montgomery County can dispose of their large appliances free of charge this week.

The Montgomery County Environmental Services is hosting its Appliance Amnesty Weekend, June 1-3, at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer & Recycling Facility at the 1000 block of Encrete Lane in Moraine, according to a county environmental services spokesperson.
The drop-off dates and times are:
- June 1-2 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- June 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Appliances such as refrigerators, air conditioners, water heaters, and stoves will be accepted with proof of residency, the county said.
Refrigerants such as freon will be safely removed and properly disposed of by a licensed technician on site.
Metal components will be recycled and not placed in a landfill.
