People stopping by the Troy location on Thursday were shocked to see the sign on the door saying they were closed for good and our crew watched as employees changed the sign from the latest special to a message of thanks to the Troy community.

Allen Stephey, of Troy, heard the news and wanted to stop by the restaurant to see the servers, who he called friends, one more time.

“You get good food for good service, so I don’t know what I’ll do,” Stephey said.

He also said it’s more than just about the food.

“It’s a meeting place,” he said.

As reported on News Center 7 at 5:00, Senior Resource Connection runs a congregate dining program that gives seniors a voucher for a meal to enjoy at a restaurant, According to their website, Troy’s Frisch’s was one of just three participating Miami County restaurants and the only one in Troy.

Stephey said he’s met many people participating in that program and hopes he’ll find them around town to keep in touch.

This closure comes after several other locations in the Miami Valley shut down. As previously reported by News Center 7, restaurants in Springfield, Middletown, and Lebanon have closed.

The closures come as Frisch’s faces a lawsuit from Cincinnati’s MLS team, FC Cincinnati. The team says Frisch’s owes the team more than $150,000. It has to do with its sponsorship contract.
