Mother honors family killed in crash with toy drive

GERMANTOWN — After losing her daughter and grandson in a deadly crash, a mother is collecting toys for Dayton Children’s Hospital to honor her family’s memory.

Dawn Mance held a “Stuff the Truck” toy drive Saturday from 1- 4 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Franklin Saturday afternoon.

Mance’s daughter, Ashley, and her toddler grandson, A.J., were among four people killed in a crash in April on state Route 4 in Germantown. Mance’s granddaughter Averly spent weeks recovering at children’s from the crash.

Mance said it’s been difficult for her granddaughter, and her family as a whole, especially with the holidays coming up.

A judge sentenced the 16-year-old who caused the crash to four years at the Ohio Department of Youth Services.
