An officer at the scene earlier said the crash happened after a pickup truck hauling some furniture in the truck bed lost a couch and the driver stopped to retrieve it. That was when the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, reportedly struck the pickup.

“The sequence of events are being investigated by the crash reconstruction unit,” Seiter said. However, he confirmed “the pickup truck driver stopped his vehicle in the middle lane of the highway.”
