DAYTON — Motorcycle Ohio will give the “Saved by the Helmet Award” to one driver who is still alive because they say she wore safety gear.
In Ohio, you do not have to wear a helmet once you reach 18 years old, however, it’s always advised.
This year alone, there have been over 25,000 motorcycle-related crashes across the state. In Montgomery County, there have been 119 crashes involving motorcycles.

Julietta Lifka crashed into a concrete barrier on Interstate 75 when she swerved to avoid a semi-truck in her lane. The impact threw her off her bike, and she tumbled 50 feet on the highway.
Luckily Lifka walked away from the crash with minor injuries because of her helmet.
She will be recognized later today at the Dayton Patrol Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
