Bayman’s pickup truck reportedly was being driven in an erratic manner when he hit the left front of the semi, which was in the right lane, then hit the SUV, which was in the left lane.

Bayman was taken first to Wilson Health Hospital in Sidney before CareFlight took him to Miami Valley Hospital.

Adarsh Mani, 44, his 14-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter were properly restrained in the SUV and suffered non-life threatening injuries. All of them were treated at Wilson hospital.

Bisht Bhupinder, 39, of Brampton, Ontario, was driving the semi. He was not injured. He was allowed to drive his rig from the scene.

The state patrol has impounded the pickup and the SUV. The state patrol Traffic Crash Reconstruction and Motor Carrier Enforcement personnel were sent to the scene as part of the investigation.

The northbound lanes of the interstate were closed approximately 52 minutes because of the accident. Traffic was routed off the interstate at Fair Road and redirected onto the interstate’s northbound ramp, also at Fair Road.

There are no wires or barriers along that section of the interstate, but the installation of cable barriers in the median began Monday, the day of the fatal multi-vehicle crossover crash.

On Monday, Feb. 18, News Center 7 looks into the use of cable barriers and how they can help save lives. Tune in at 5:30 p.m. to learn more.
