SPRINGFIELD — At least 3 people were injured after a shooting in Springfield Saturday night, a Springfield Division of Police supervisor told News Center 7.
Police and medics were dispatched to the 600 block of S York Street on reports of a shooting around 10:40 p.m.
Upon arriving on scene, police found a male injured in a driveway, according to Springfield Police Sergeant Terry.
The man was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center before being careflighted to Miami Valley Hospital.
Sgt Terry confirmed that there were at least 2 other people injured that they believe to be involved in the shooting.
The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time, but Sgt Terry did confirm that at least one of the two other victims was careflighted to Miami Valley Hospital.
“We know of three victims right now. There could possibly be at least one more,” Sgt Terry said.
There are reportedly multiple suspects, though they have not been identified.
“We don’t have any information on suspects at this time. We do know that reportedly suspects fled from the scene,” Sgt Terry said.
Police said they are using drones to look for more victims.
“We wanted to make sure that we didn’t have any other suspects or victims down in the grass out here because again we have at least, possibly three maybe four people shot at this scene. We do know that a couple people did flee, whether they were suspects or victims we don’t know,” Sgt Terry said.
The shooting remains under investigation. Sgt Terry said that crews will likely be out at the scene for several hours.
Springfield Regional Medical Center is currently locked down. Our crews saw multiple sheriff’s cruisers and police cruisers at the hospital.
News Center 7 crews are working to learn more information.
