Deadly Christmas crash: 4 killed, 4 critically injured in Dayton

Four people are dead and four others are in critical condition following a single-car crash on Christmas Day in Dayton, according to police.

The crash was reported at the intersection of West Third Street and Brooklyn Avenue around 11 a.m.

Three people were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. A fourth victim, identified only as a juvenile, died after being taken to an area hospital.

An adult and a juvenile are among the victims that were pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

Four other victims were taken to area hospitals and are all in critical condition, police said.

The impact of the crash caused the car to split into two parts and catch fire, investigators said.

The identities of those involved were not released, pending notification of family.

Potential factors in the crash were not released by police. However, a witness reported the car was driving erratically moments before the crash, according to a 911 call obtained by this news outlet.

Crash reconstruction crews also responded to investigate the crash.
