5 people taken to area hospitals from 2-vehicle accident in Xenia

UPDATE @ 10:34 p.m.: Five people have been taken to area hospitals from the two-vehicle accident in Xenia that left one of the vehicles in a cornfield.

The at-fault driver, in a sedan, ran a red light while heading north on Cincinnati Avenue and T-boned an SUV that was turning left onto Cincinnati from Ledbetter Road, Xenia police Sgt. Matt Cvitkovich said the preliminary investigation shows.

The sedan carrying two passengers did not brake at all, according to witness accounts, the sergeant said. The SUV carried one passenger.

The victims were taken to various area hospitals, Cvitkovich said, and at least two of the victims were children. The conditions of the injured were not available, he said.

Cincinnati Avenue was closed to traffic for a time because of the accident.

INITIAL REPORT

Multiple injuries are being reported from a two-vehicle accident in Xenia that left one car in a median and the other in a cornfield.

As many as three medic units are on scene at Cincinnati Avenue and Ledbetter Road, where the collision was reported about 7:45 p.m., according to Xenia police and fire dispatch.

We’re hearing at least one victim may have been ejected.

Cincinnati Avenue is closed to traffic until further notice, according to police dispatch.
